Most common complaints

Hi, Travelers!
This space is for YOU to share with us all your travel experiences: the good ones and also the bad ones. Fell free to post photos as well (no advertising or porn, please).
We will be sharing very helpful tips and suggestions.
Just as a start:
*Most common complaints regards Accommodations:
#1: Overbooking.
#2: No reservation at check-in.
#3: Accommodation doesn't meet expectation.
#4: Couldn't find location as per information provided.

*Most common complaints regards Guests:
#1: NR(non refundable)reservations> Guest requests cancellation free of charge or to change dates on a NR rate and/or NR policy.
#2: Booking a room with the incorrect occupancy> Guest still wants to pay for single rate for 2 guests (for example).
#3: Room policies> accommodations can have different rates and policies for each room category> Booker doesn't read the policies and still wants to complaint even with no rights.

I will need your help to fill out this blog with a lot of posts to help our local and international travelers.

Let's do it!

  1. In my 5D/4N stay at a supposedly 3-star hotel, I heard loud noises coming from the next room at night. My experience was made even worse by the hotel's delay in accomodating my request for a room transfer. I got transferred only on my last night. Needless to say, I will be avoiding that hotel for a very poor customer service!

  2. I worked for an popular online travel booking service and one of the most common complaints of Asian (especially Middle Eastern) guests travelling to North America or Europe is the lack of bidets in toilets. Should this be a common feature in all hotels?

  3. I look at the prices and the equivalent service/amenities I get. Often, the more money I pay, the higher my expectations are which lead to me becoming an unhappy customer.

  6. Gosh, I'm sure I've had some accommodation issues before, just couldn't remember all of them. The most recent issue I did have though was when me and my family reserved a family room in a four-star hotel but they gave us two separate rooms instead. Granted, both options could accommodate four people and they eventually transferred us to a family room but I was expecting better from them.

  7. I'm running a travel agency company in Malaysia. Normally the tourist would like to complaint about the accommodation issues such as the condition of the hotel room and the food served during breakfast. As a middle person between hotel management and tourist, we also will inform the complaints that we received to the related hotel/resort in order for them to improve their services.

  8. My pet peeve is #3: Accommodation doesn't meet expectation. I'm not super picky but after travelling for many hours, I think I deserve a clean room with a warm and comfy bed.

  9. One of my most memorable traveling experiences was getting lost in Bangkok. I was all alone but the locals were very nice and helped me get to my hotel in no time.

  10. I once traveled to Kota Kinabalu and stayed at a 3-star hotel. The hotel was nice, clean, and cozy. The only problem I faced was the staff are not very fluent with English so they always misunderstand my requests. But all in all, it was still good.

  11. nothing beats a bad service of a hotel than when the hotel staff themselves are very unfriendly. I don't know whether it is about the time or the weather for those days I stayed in a hotel in Vietnam. The staff were a little bit grumpy.

  12. Once I had booked a a single room in a hotel. But when I reached there I was explained by the staff that no rooms are available and only a sweet room was available for which I had to pay extra charges.I had to accept and pay extra charges coz the hotel was near to the place where I had a training project.

  14. Oh god, I could still the remember one of the worst experiences I've had when I travelled by myself in Vietnam. The pictures presented in the hotel's website were nothing close to reality. It's as if they were showing photos from a different hotel. Horrible.

  15. Well I don't like the fact that some hotels over book, particularly online reservations, and then when you get there, they say they have no vacancies! That's BS especially when you traveled a long way. One hotel that does this is the Intown Suites! So watch our for them.
